    Description

    San Rafael Jasper Side Notch
You are looking at a hand made stone arrow head with amazing color and flaking. My arrow heads are thin, delicate and made mostly of Agates/Jasper/Obsidian. These items have taken me years to master and understand how rock reacts to heat and tools to create these delicate pieces of Art and hunting tools.
This point is made of San Rafael Jasper
    Arrow head is 2 3/8 x 7/8
    This is part of my
    collectible
    series.
My collectible series knifes and arrow heads are of the very best quality and i will compare them to the very best work you will every find!
Any items after the first are always free to ship
    Bustedflakes
Hello my name is Grady Bowen also known as Bustedflakes in the flint knapping community/world. I have been Flint
Knapping since 2005 and started with a small five dollar kit that had a leather hand pad, wood stick with copper tip, and three Obsidian preforms.
That five dollar kit turned into hours and hours of chipping away trying to make any thing similar to an arrow head.
With no luck other then gravel between my feet i felt defeated.
The other Knappers i had seen at a local knappin made it look so easy, i set out to get more Obsidian preforms to give it another try. Over the next several years i spent hours and hours practicing and striving to make great looking items.
After about 6-7 years of Flint Knapping and being so close to feeling like i had it figured it out the stress and pressure created some health problems that forced me to take some time off.
After getting that under control and finding my self still wanting to make amazing arrow heads, i picked back up my tools. About 2018 i started to focus on not letting it over whelm me and found that when i work at my own pace the results can me amazing!
I find that the style i like best is making small arrow heads with random flake scars and micro edge work. I like tight notching with delicate tips and ears at the base of the points. All my high end points and knives are signed and dated the year made with a scribe.
My average points range from 25.00 and up depending on two things, Stone and perfection of the point.
Tools i use to create these GEMS!
    I use leather
hand pads of three different sizes and shapes for flaking notchi
ng and detail work, i also use pressure flaking tools that are made of wood and a plastic called delron, the tips are antler, copper, steel. I also use a kiln for heat treating, modern saws and grinders are used to help shape and prepare preforms for flaking. Most of the time these modern tools are used to help with the cost of stone being so expensive.
    Other info about knapping
***Warning*** breathing silica dust from flaking stone is dangerous and a rick to health be sure to read about it if you take up this hobby.
(Modern knappers) They will use tools and machines to help make arrow head and knives preforms.
(Fog) Flake over grind knapping is when modern tools are used to shape stuff as much as possible before flaking.
(Abo) is only traditional tools no modern tools of any kind.
