Description
The Great Britain England 1 Pound banknote, issued in 1940 right around the second World War, as part of the Emergency Wartime issues. It has blue, brown, and pink color palettes and is 150 x 84 mm in size. The front side features Britannia, the female personification of Britain, seated, robed, and holding a spear. The back shows Saint George on horseback slaying a dragon, surrounded by a spread of acanthus leaf swirls. The 1-pound note was eventually brought back to its earlier green colors when the war was over.
